Sponsor the Fish Fry…Help St. Bernard School!

Each year, over 40 St. Bernard School and Parishioner volunteers run the St. Bernard Lent Fish Fry. For six weeks a year, this group of volunteers give up their day jobs and become Friday night restaurateurs to provide great food and at the same time help raise funds to support our parish school.

There is a long standing tradition of providing a consistently high quality of service along with an excellent meal for everyone to enjoy; a task that our group of volunteers takes seriously and strives to achieve, maintain and improve upon.

Over the last several years we have expanded the menu beyond the traditional fried food fare by offering exciting choices for both adults and children alike so we can broaden our appeal to a larger base of people with varying tastes. We have been offering weekly pasta dinners and crab cakes along with fish tacos! These additions have been a great success for us!

The last few years have been remarkable for us in terms of the number of diners that joined us, both new and old. However, this improved service comes at a high price and while we have been able to maintain the menu costs at the 2014 levels, it is still expensive to put these events together. While we strive to do our best to find the best cost, we have had to balance the cost of the products and material with a competitive price for, what we believe is the best deal around! Each year we have to tabulate the cost of the food and the anticipated amount of sales with the price we that can charge for the dinner and each year is a struggle.

We chose not to increase the cost of the dinners this year so we can keep the costs low enough to maintain the appeal of this great bargain. Balancing all of these factors along with expected and unexpected costs for purchasing and maintaining the equipment that we need to operate is a fine line to walk.

Each year we make an appeal at the beginning of the lent season for family and corporate sponsorship. For you participation in the sponsorship program, we will post a placard on the sponsorship board at all Fish Fry functions and will also include a listing in each week’s Church bulletin as space permits. As an added bonus, we will also include your company logo on the placard. I have enclosed the sponsorship form with further instruction along with the sample placards that will be used on the sponsorship board. This has been very successful program for us so please take a moment to consider making a generous contribution to help defer these costs and to make this our most successful Fish Fry year yet!

Additionally, we are seeking individuals who are interested in sponsoring the weekly cost for the cake we serve at our desert table. The cost of the cake is $50. Additionally, we are also seeking individuals that would like to donate cases of bottled water and Coca-Cola products in lieu of the listed cash contribution.

With the continued support from generous individuals like you, we can continue to make this an even more successful event. Thank you and on behalf of the entire St. Bernard School, we thank you for your generosity and continued support and we look forward to seeing you at the Fish Fry.
